Its another good news/bad news story for this Dundee Hills vineyard in 2004 due to a very small crop (only 15 tons per acre) The bad news is that theres not much wine (150 cases less than normal) The good news is that the small crop resulted in very even and early ripening, allowing us to harvest one week ahead of normal, picking almost the entire 7 acres in a one-day marathon on October 5th The resulting wine is a classic expression of this terrific vineyard High-toned spicy, earthy, red fruit aromas explode from the glass and expand into round, sweet fruit on the palate Elegant and focused, this wine promises even more depth and richness with a few years in the cellar Murto fans will want to have the 2004 in their collection Two other point are worth noting First, this years label bears a Dundee Hills vs the more generic Willamette Valley designation, reflecting the trend in Oregon to move towards more specific appellation labeling Second, there is a modest price increase (our first in several years) So now its only a screaming good deal when you buy a case, otherwise its just a great value!
