Tasting Notes - On the nose mocha, brown sugar, and dark chocolate wrap around a core of mountain blackberry. Cedar and cassis follow as secondary aromas. The palate is well balanced with berry flavors and spice. While displaying classic mountain concentration, fine grained tannins provide a smooth finish. Great aging potential.

Winemaker Notes - The 2006 displays dark color. Black cherry, chocolate and caramel aromas come first with subtle spice and barrel toast as secondary themes inviting your first sip. The palate reinforces cherry and currant and carries ample weight on the mid palate. The tannins are present but ripe and round and lead to a persistent finish.

CG 90Pts - According to the Connoisseurs Guide, this is a young Cabernet meant to be drunk young. Its outgoing aromas of currants, berries, dusty earth, roasted vanilla bean and creme caramel are entirely accessible now with nothing held in reserve, and its round, supple, somewhat soft texture is the right vehicle for the rich, lush, lightly chocolaty, well-fruited flavors that follow on. It can age a few years, but its lifeline is not enormous so drink it up now in its lusty youth.

Tasting Notes - The fruit for this wine comes from the San Lucas region of Monterey, and produces a Syrah that is fruit forward with blueberry and white pepper aromas and flavors and silky texture. This is a traditional style Syrah that pleases the palate.
