The best word I can think of to describe them is crooks...It is now going on one year since I ordered $6,500 worth of products and I am still dealing the problem we had. It would take pages to describe all of the correspondance that has gone on, but a somewhat shortened version goes as follows....
1. March, 2007 I place and online order for all new kitchen appliances, sink, faucet, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator. I wait two weeks for confirmation that my order has shipped, I e-mail them in the meantime and am told twice that I will receive notification when it ships. Finally after 3 wks I get an email that my order is being processed. I don't see anything for another 3 wks. So, in total 6 wks for order to arrive.
2. Day of order receipt, we have been given instructions via email about how to proceed with receipt of order, yellow freight arrives and proceeds to drop order at curb. The delivery man does not want to wait while my husband checks the order. We have been instructed to inspect order and not to accept if anything is damaged. The only problem with that is there is no way to refuse part of the order, it is all or none, and our entire kitchen is on the curb and contractors are waiting. Everything looks ok although my husband notices some broken packaging on the top of the refrigerator. He looks and notices a small dent on the top back of the unit. The delivery man takes off without waiting for my husband to unpack the refrigerator.
3. We unpack the appliances everything ok, except the refrigerator which has a small dent on the top back and when we remove the protective film on the front door of the freezer we can see a small dent.
4. We spend the next three months trying to get someone to resolve our dented refrigerator, which also by now is not working properly inside the refrigeration unit. Ice builds up in the drain every three days and I have to chip it out. Nobody returns our calls, everytime we call they say they will have a manager call us back and nobody does
5. In August I disputed the charge for the refrigerator on my credit card. The next day " Irving" calls me. He is a total "sleezy salesman" on the phone and tries playing word games with me. After five minutes of talking in circles with him, I hang up. He calls back and offers me a fifty dollar discount and a two year extended warranty if I keep the unit "as is". Unbelievable...
6. Three months go by and several more sleezy attempts to cut me deals that are ridiculous. Various threatening emails are sent. I explain to them that I would like the refrigerator either replaced, returned, or I would be willing to keep it if it is repaired to work and look like new. They finally agree to send out service. The repair man comes and tells me stories about what a nightmare they are to work with. He does repair the drain problem, The door problem however is still unresolved. Irving emails me asking for a new credit card to charge the refrigerator since I now have a "perfect working" unit. Mind you the dent on the freezer door is still there. I remind him of this and he offers me a $100 discount to keep the unit "as is". I refuse and they finally offer to send me a new freezer door. It arrives, the repair man shows up to install it and finds they have shipped a refrigerator door, not a freezer door. They send a new one, this time the seal is defective and the freezer won't close properly. They send another one, again same problem. Finally, in February they offer to pick-up the unit. The only problem is I am leaving the country the next day for 3 months...what a joke. I am now in Egypt trying to arrange via email for a new refrigerator for the people renting our house while we are away, and coordinate the pick-up of the nightmare from AJ Madison. If you find an appliance that is several hundred dollars more that what you would pay through them, buy it, as I belive most peoples' time and emotional energy is worth way more than the discounted price you will receive from them.
