Amerimark's customer service is horrible. Apparently the telephone reps are a couple of steps removed from actual shipping, without specific information. And the website is poorly designed. Here are my comments:
1) My wife ordered two items from Anthony Richards catalog, one of Amerimark's many brands. AFTER placing the order, she received email confirmation showing both on backorder!! I went to the website to see what was up with that. As it turns out, there was a small "check status" button on the item page that would have provided this information had she clicked on it. Most online stores I've used either show status prominently on product page, or at least prior to concluding the transaction!
2) Anticipated shipping date for one item was over three weeks, and the other over seven weeks! After reading through other reviews here, I wonder if they actually stock anything?
3) Amerimark charges a mandatory $1 "guaranteed replacement" charge in addition to shipping. Whatever.
4) When checking order status on Amerimark website, there is no information about cost of the order or of partial shipments. The only place to see this is on the confirmation email.
Now is when it gets interesting:
A few days after first item was to have been shipped, I checked order status. It showed both items "in stock" but not shipped. I contacted customer service. They said one item was indeed in stock and therefore would ship within "5 business days" (!). They said the other item is still on backorder and was now predicted for Nov 27! I asked why the website shows the other item in stock. Answer: I don't know anything about the website...!
The next day, wife calls to change 2nd item to a color that's in stock. She's told her 2nd item shipped with first item. She told the lady that the website shows only one item was shipped and her answer: I don't know anything about what the website shows.
Apparently this is a true statement!
To make what could be an even longer story short, none of the information provided by the agents was correct. The first item had shipped when the agent told her it would ship within 5 days. Not that this is bad, but it would be nice if the agent had more specific knowledge of the true status. The second item shipped a couple of days later. Again, a good thing, but why was my wife told it wouldn't ship until end of November?
Bottom line... if you don't give a flip about customer service, order tracking, or prompt delivery, then I suppose Amerimark is an ok place to buy.
