Full review
One thing that I did not have enough of in my home was wall hangings. Sure, we have lived here almost 3 years now, but having stuff on the walls was not really a priority. I had found a few things here and there, but one place I was having trouble was in our bedroom. Its a tropical blue color, and there was not a whole lot out there that matched it- hence me shopping at art.com.
I had gotten art.coms catalog for a while now, and I had purchased something for the kitchen via snail mail, but this was my first time ordering via the website. One thing that motivated me is that I got an email from www.art.com (you can sign up at the website) with a code for 25% off your order. So, thats what got me to take the plunge.
When you log onto their homepage (www.art.com), you can use their search feature, or click on a category on the left:
Art Styles
Subjects
Artists
Collections
Under each of these main categories, you will see more categories, such as Van Gogh is listed under Artists, and you can simply click on his name. For this trip, I was looking for a beach scene, so I simply typed in beaches in the search function, and then I was taken to a page with all of their beach selections. From there, you can look at all of them, or select framed or unframed. So, I selected framed, and then the page came up with all of the framed beach selections. All of the pictures are well represented, and the dimensions are given for each print as well. After running back to my bedroom with a tape measure, I finally decided on a 36 x 12 framed print for $99, minus my 25% off.
You can buy just prints (or posters), already framed art, or have it framed there for extra. They also can put the print you want on wood, canvas, or laminate it for different charges.
As for shipping, the cost for my item was $19.99. Shipping varies according to what kind of item you are buying, but the cheapest shipping starts at $2.99.
As far as payment options, you can enter your information on their site, or you can log into your paypal account and pay that way.
After checking out, I got a order number, then I got a confirmation email, and an email letting me know the expected shipping date. I ordered on March 19, 2007, and my expected ship date was March 26, 2007. I got an email on March 21, 2007 letting me know that my item had shipped, and it included a tracking number. I got my picture via UPS on March 23, 2007, and it was packed very well and was in tact. The picture looked just like it did on the internet, and it even included a nail and picture hanger along with it.
All in all, I was really satisfied with their selection- you could spend hours wandering around their site, the search feature made it easy to find what I was looking for, the site is easy to navigate, and the prices were pretty good- since I had a 25% off code, it made it even better. I would shop there again, and would recommend it to anyone.
