I have had multiple dealings with
Blinds.com since moving to my new home in Aug. 2007. I can absolutely, without hesitation, recommend them to family and friends.
We bought a new construction home. Not a single window was covered, no blinds were included with our home, nor a credit to go to a particular vendor. We were on our own to cover some 24+ windows (I am choosing not to cover the highest windows - can't reach them anyway!)
After going to the usual Home Improvement stores with measurements for the most important windows, and finding that my windows were far from standard stocked height/width...I was to start the search online. I found
Blinds.com fairly early in the search and found their prices to be FANTASTIC.
I was looking for a wood-style blind and a custom measurement. I found that I could get the faux-wood blinds at a very reasonable price!
(I wasn't to be moving these blinds up and down, simply planned on rotating the slats open and closed. Faux wood is much heavier than real wood. If you have a window to cover that requires you to move the blinds up and down - please consider the real wood or another lighter material. Faux is heavy!) I ordered a set of four blinds that were for my bedroom.
These blinds arrived in less than a week!!! WOW! I could NOT believe it! Granted, I live in Houston, TX where there is a
Blinds.com location, that may be the explanation for the quick delivery service, but none-the-less, I had my bedroom blinds and could finally take down the sheets!!
In a matter of a few weeks however, I did attempt to raise one of those four blinds to dust the window ledge so I didn't bang them around...Three of the four of them raised and lowered fine. The fourth went
ZING!!!!! and crashed at that odd angle. Remember, they are heavy and when a piece of the cord holding the blind breaks, that is quite a big/noisy deal! So, naturally I was mad. These were brand new! I went and got my packing receipt and called. I gave the customer service rep all the required information and explained to her what happened. She apologized for the fact that this happened and even apologized that it startled me so badly! (Very thoughtful, I thought) Without any hesitation, she reordered me up a new one and said that they would ship it immediately upon it's completion! Once again, I had the replacement blind at my door within a week! I did not have to return the broken one with countless forms to fill out or anything! I was MORE than impressed with how I was treated as a customer of theirs! Due to the wonderful treatment I received, I knew that I would definitely be going back to them for more window treatments.
The next occasion was for two other bedrooms. I had something of an issue of not knowing what to do with those windows. I didn't think that blinds would necessarily work. The windows themselves are very large - both in width and height. But, at the top of these windows, there is an arch, so I wouldn't have a center part of the window to secure the blinds so they didn't "sag" in the middle. I was unsure how to go. SO, I called the customer service line with questions about this predicament.
This customer service agent was extremely helpful giving suggestions. He asked if I had ever considered using a roller shade for those windows...Roller shade? Like circa '82? Is what I thought of! No, I hadn't. But once again, I was thinking, "How in the world with it's width and the length would that work and wouldn't it sag?" He explained the construction of the roller shade to me; the center rod being made of steel. There was no way it was going to sag. Sold!! There are multiple styles of roller shades and "edges" that you pull from, to choose from. I just chose a very standard white with no decorative pull or anything. They have been up a little more than a year and not a single problem with them!
I next needed to cover my kitchen windows. We have maple cabinets and a maple table with a cinnamon-color paint on the walls...I didn't want to go the white blind route again. I went on to the
Blinds.com website and found that they carry several other colors for the faux wood blinds. I do not trust colors just looking at them on a screen. But I didn't have to.
Blinds.com offers free color sample pieces! I ordered the color that I thought would work. This sample came quickly (not as fast as the blinds/shades delivery for this came by USPS mail and ours is not fast! We have had multiple issues with its [USPS] poor service actually.) When the sample piece came, it was going to be perfect! Once again, ordered with
Blinds.com!!
We have covered other windows not mentioned above. But those ordering experiences have been uneventful. They all were delivered in perfect condition, in a fast manner and I felt that I got an excellent price!
Once you order with
Blinds.com you will receive emails from them when they are having specials, including a coupon code. Also something to keep you coming back! Coupon or not, I will definitely remain a faithful customer!!
