When shopping for sheets, I go for cheap. Why you ask? Because in 6 months or so they will be ruined-my husband has such oily skin that it changes the color of the sheets- no matter what they are made out of, what color they are, eventually his side will look 3 shades different from my side. Its really gross- and strange. So, I just buy whatever I can find at a low price and then throw them out usually six months later.
So, that brings me to Brylane Home.com- I have ordered from them in the past via mail, and I get their catalogs quite regularly but for the first time I shopped online. Brylane Home carries, sheets, comforters, blankets, towels (which I have bought in the past), window treatments, art, and they have a kitchen department as well.
We have a king size bed, and bedding is a little harder to find and especially find something in the right color- which is a surf blue color. So, I got onto the site, which was easy to use, and clicked on the bedding tab. Then, I clicked on the sheets section, and from there I was able to shop by size, and so I clicked on king, and it showed me all the stuff they had available in that size.
I found a set of 220 thread count sheets in surf blue, for $44. I also got another set in another color for $44 as well. They had a good amount of color selection, and several blue colors to choose from as well.
Let me mention here that Brylane Home does participate in the Ebates program, and you get 3% of your purchase price back. Also, when logging onto the site they happened to be running a special of a percentage off of one item.
Next, I decided to check out- I was sure to enter the promotional code while checking out too- which made one set of sheets cost only $41. They accept all major credit cards, as well as a few store cards, such as Brylane Home card, La Redoute, King Size, Jessica London, Roamans, OneStopPlus.com, metrostyle but they also accept a Chadwicks card, and thats what I used.
Shipping costs are based on how much your merchandise total is, and I paid $10.95 for UPS shipping.
Heres where it gets a little scary- after placing my order I was expecting some sort of email letting me know they got my order and perhaps something letting me know when it was shipped as well. I got neither. Two days after placing my order and getting nothing as far as email goes, I contacted them via email and got no response. I was getting concerned, so a couple of days later I called via their 1800 number and used their automated system to figure out if my order was lost in oblivion or not. Turns out they had gotten my order, and the system let me know where it was.
Three business days after placing my order, it showed up. My sheets are fine and everything is correct. But, I will admit I was a little scared there for a while.
As far as merchandise quality is concerned- well some stuff is better than others. I have ordered window treatments from them in the past and they are great, but I will admit their sheets and towels really arent all that great in quality. But, I dont mind either- because the same weird thing that happens to sheets happens to towels and I find myself replacing them regularly as well.
Overall, I would rate this store average- they have average quality stuff at a low price- if thats what youre looking for. I had a scary experience with them, and I probably wont order online anymore, just by phone or catalog. The site is pretty easy to navigate, but I really worried about where my order was the whole time.
