I have been a customer of In the Swim for a few years and been satisfied with their products and shipping. I had not used their customer service department until my latest order. It has been a very bad experience.
I recently ordered a pool cover with the inducement of FREE SHIPPING. When I got the order confirmation I was surprised and angered to see a 9.99 Handling Charge included in the total cost. Since they only do business on the internet they "handle" everything, so it's just an extra charge.
It felt like I was the victim of a "bait and switch" where they charge handling instead of shipping. When I instructed them (twice) to remove the handling charge or cancel the order, they disregarded my instructions shipping the order and charging me for handling.
When I told them to take back the pool cover at their expense if they would not credit the handling charge, they declined and said I would have to pay for shipping. So they have really angered me, I customer who has purchased a lot of product from them. Their customer service people act like morons and do not directly address the problem in our emails back and forth.
I am now disputing the charge on my credit card. And they have lost another customer.
