My son received a $200 gift from his aunt, ordered from KBToys.com. Lovely thought, but it really wasn't something we wanted to keep--too big, too expensive, above his age level in our opinion. So I looked on the packing slip for return info, and it gave me two options: 1) Exchange for SAME ITEM, and 2) Credit to purchasing credit card. Neither of which we wanted--we wanted "Exchange for SOMETHING ELSE".
So I contacted KBToys.com and asked how to send it back for a store credit--and they informed me that their return policy doesn't allow that. HELLO? When someone receives a gift, they can't exchange it for something else? Even with the packing slip/receipt? Makes no sense whatsoever.
We certainly didn't want a credit going back on the aunt's account; that would upset her. We certainly didn't want another of the same item. Soooooo I guess we're stuck with a gigantic, unwanted toy. We'll probably play with it a little while and then sell it locally when we get tired of messing with it.
What an awful return policy! I will never order from them, especially if it's something I'm giving as a gift. Recipients of gifts should be able to exchange unwanted presents!! Sears.com has a similar policy; I sent back an unwanted gift last year, and the credit went back on the same relative's credit card. Two websites to cross off my purchasing lists and to spread the bad news about.
