I placed an order which was suppose to arrive no later than 2 weeks from the date of purchase. When 3 weeks was approaching and still no merchandise I called Lighting Universe to inquire about the status and get a tracking number. The representative first indicated payment had not been made on the order until I provided verification. He then contacted accounts receivable sharing with me it has been found and must have fallen off a desk onto the floor where it could not be seen. I let the representative know I had a completion date to meet. I went on to tell him the order must be in house no later than 7 days from the day of this conversation. He apologized and reassured me it would get here in time as the order would be released immediately. Seven days had past and still no order. No communication with me about the status, not even a tracking number provided. I called again and received another explanation why the promise was not kept. I made it clear if it did not ship by the next day I would have to purchase the items elsewhere, again sharing I had to meet the projects completion date. I suggested it be expedited at the expense of Lighting Universe. This suggestion was not accommodated as the order had not shipped when I called 2 days later. This time I called to informed it would have to be cancelled. I was told it would not be possible and if I did not accept the order one third of the purchase price would be retained for restocking. I could not believe I was hearing this. No sense of responsibility at all for the loss of the payment followed by the failure to ship when discovery was made they had the payment all along. To my surprise I found the items at a price which saved me over $80.00 each. Lighting Universe did not refund the total amount and did in fact boldly retain the restocking fee, an extremely over inflated amount I might add. I would not recommend doing business with this company.
