I was able to find everything I was shopping for at Optics Planet rather than piecemealing from many suppliers. Ordering was easy and everything arrived faster than I expected, which was great. I'm used to these sort of merchants shipping from New York or California but this one ships out of the Chicago area so surface shipping arrived the next day. What a pleasant surprise.

I was shopping for my son's birthday and since he is interested in astronomy, I was looking for a pair of Nikon binoculars, having already "searched the world" and decided that this is what I wanted. They had many models and the one I settled on was well priced.

I also had been looking for a green laser pointer that he can use to point toward the sky at night and see the beam. Lots of suppliers out there sell "unregulated nuclear accelerator" type over-powered lasers from China which had poor quality reviews. Optics Planet had a Meade brand; lower power but finally a name to lean on.

A Celestron star chart was suggested by the site and I picked it up, too, even though we already have a small one but this one is glow in the dark and also has 20 pages of other data and charts.

A lens cleaning kit, including a squeezy-bulb brush duster was offered for free so why not?

My only "disappointment" is that the Meade green laser turned out to be available elsewhere at a lower price but I didn't see the other source's price until later even though I had been searching a lot. The important thing was to get it on time so for me it was better to be a little higher price and on time than a lower price and late.
