This was a personal hobby item for me, but I own an AS9100 certified aerospace manufacturing facility. I received the rail last week.  I called about the scope as it was listed on the packing slip.  Your customer service told me it was a drop ship.  The guy who took my call was very polite and quick to figure out the situation.    I was also told to let you know if the scope did not show up by last Friday.  I received your request for my review, but I don't have the product.  I even paid extra for faster shipping.

I'd appreciate if you could jump in.  I am suppose to go Coyote hunting with family that is driving from Illinois to Colorado in a couple days.  I wanted at least the 4X of the night scope I ordered and ATN is well made equipment.  I'm concerned that I will be left out or end up buying a second night scope with only 2X locally - just to participate.  I already paid for their out of state small game licenses.  If this does not work out well, my kids will suffer from my actions by having a very low cost Christmas.

Your price is excellent.  I just needed the shipment to occur.

Recently order a Nikon rifle scope as Optics Planet had the item with free shipping and an additional 5% off, which based on my research made it the best bargin.  Email notifications for order confirmation and shipping were provided.  Shipping was prompt via UPS ground.  Tracking information was easy to follow.  The scope was well packaged and arrived in excellent shape.  I have purchased several items from Optics Planet and will buy from them again in the future.

Prices were not the absolute lowest, but with the free shipping it was worth buying from here since I bought several items. The order process was smooth without any problems. One of the items sent broke the same day I received it (it was a flashlight holster - the snap broke) so I contacted them and received a return authorization number. I checked out the manufacturer website but decided that either way I returned it I would have to pay shipping charges so I went ahead and returned it to Optics Planet. They received it and sent a new one pretty quickly. Overall I am satisfied with their prices, service, and policies. I am disappointed in Streamlight's quality of holsters but that is not OP's fault. I will definitely check OP out in the future if I need items they carry.

My overall experience with OpticsPlanet was wonderful the order was accurate, the delivery speed was what was stated on the tracking and it came that day. The day I logged on to Optics Planet website, I didn't plan on buying any binoculars that day. But after I saw the selection, the prices, and free delivery, I couldn't afford not to. The Leupold Cascade 10x42 Binoculars I ordered are the best binoculars I have ever owned. Clear, bright, and a good looking piece of equipment. We have a great diversity of birds, and my wife enjoys watching them. I bought a multi-purpose spotting scope (Celestron model 52270) from Optics Planet as a Christmas present for her. Optics Planet has a remarkable selection of products that is easily compared by price, features and customer reviews. The price was competitive or better, and I received it within just a few days of placing the order. What's to not like?

Warning--they will not stand behind their products. My Bolle glasses fell apart and the lenses developed a stress crack after 18 months of fairly mild use. While it was a 1-year guarantee, you would expect a $250 pair of sunglasses to last more than a year and a half. They were no help, offering no accommodation at all. I would not buy from them again.

Ordered a $264 set of prescription motorcycle goggles. They sent the lenses but not the frame! Took a week to correct even though a CSR said they would overnight me the frames. The frames came the day I called and so did the email telling me they had shipped them. Very weird and cannot recommend you do business with Optics Planet

I love OpticsPlanet ;-) Great store, good deals, fast shipping. I ordered 3 different gifts past Xmas (Meade ETX-80 telescope, a tripod (astro tripod in addition to the lightweight included), and a Meade eyepiece set), and even though these items were ordered late (mid December), they all got to me on time! I checked with them via tollfree call on what model of telescope to buy and they took the time to help me out and explained all of the advantages and disadvantages of Meade vs. Celestron, ETX Maksutov design, lightweight tripod vs astronomy tripod, and actually suggested to buy a less expensive model for my application (earth and sky) than I originally thought to purchase.
I ordered online and it was shipped the same day - with free ground shipping got to me in 3 days - fast considering the holiday season. All three items were packaged very well with red Fragile stickers.
I plan to buy a pair of astronomy Celestron binoculars and a Meade telescope case soon, and I will be definitely back. They are an honest dealer, provide good customer support, and this is along with huge selection, free shipping, and good prices.

I too have had a poor experience with Optics Planet. They listed a Nikon spotting scope on their website and Amazon.com store front as in stock and available for a very attractive price. When I ordered the product the person I spoke with verified that it was in fact in stock and would ship that day or the next. After a few days with no tracking number I contacted them again and it mysteriously became unavailable - EVER.

However the exact same item was listed on their Ebay store with a "Buy it now" option for $250 higher than their web site's "Sale Price". The ebay listing also said that they had 49 in stock and it was ready for immediate delivery. When I contacted them, they said that the ebay listing was incorrect and they had none in stock, but I could buy the exact same item just packaged differently (with a $250 eyepiece and a $50 window mount) for, get this, an extra $700. Can you say "Bait and Switch"? These people lie.

I'm a repeat customer of Optics Planet for rifle scopes and accessories. I've always been pleased with their service. I don't recall ever having shipping issues with them. They have been positively consistent in sending me updates such as tracking numbers, etc. Their prices are good and they freely offer discounts to repeat customers as well. I usually receive a 5% discount card with each order. I'll continue to purchase from them.

Ordered a Christmas present costing almost $800 for my husband on Dec. 9th and today is Dec. 19th and it STILL has not been shipped. Excuses about it coming from California; getting a tracking number soon. NO Promises to get it by Christmas. I'm extremely frustrated and upset at their unconcerned manner.

Ordered a printer and paper. Tracking notice indicated order shipped as one package. Package arrived, BUT no printer inside, only paper. After much time wasted NOT getting an answer from their customer service the printer showed up BUT from a different vendor.

Alas the printer that arrived had no power cord, battery, software, cables, case. Had to go to another vendor to purchase remaining parts to make the printer functional.

Website is cluttered and subtle about what you might be buying. Customer service is clueless.

Buyer beware.

They shipped me my lenses. UPS said that they dropped it off, but I never saw them. So UPS's insurance covered it, I guess, and OpticsPlanet got reimbursed. They stalled and stalled and never shipped me the product. Every response I got was, "we will ship them soon" or "we will ship them today", with a variety of excuses.

I firmly believe that they just wanted to keep stalling me until my chargeback period expired, which I foolishly let happen. Now I'm out of lenses, and they aren't responding any more.

Update: 24 Aug 2005 - OpticsPlanet finally came through on the order (ten weeks after the original order). The lenses were overnighted from the manufacturer in good condition.
