I recently bought two Pacific Coast down pillows through the online store, Pacific Coast and am reviewing the site and my experience.

Who are they and what is the site like:

Pacific Coast Feather Company is a family owned business located in Seattle, Washington. They claim to use the finest raw materials obtainable, even if they cost them more. This and their painstaking manufacturing practices, results in a premium product that will justify my investment for years to come.

I had never bought anything down before (except a coat) and was really happy that the site gave me a lot of information about down. The first page is very simple but has the necessary information in it including a link to information on Down & Feather Cleanliness Analysis, Fabric Leakproofness, Thread Count, and Sewing Quality. Just click on the spool of thread on the bottom of the page. In addition if you click on the ribbon at the bottom you will see how many awards this company has received. Thecustomer service link immediately took me to everything I needed to know to purchase pillows, which is what I did.

The company accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. They also will accept checks, which must be sent to them, and then they will ship out your purchase.

If you want you can learn more about their products by clicking the appropriate category or click the watch video button for a video. Just click on Our Products and you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about these products. The variety they have is wonderful. Someday I’d like a down comforter but for now I clicked on Shop Now and was shown a link to the outlet store, the white sale, linens, feather beds, pillows, and comforters.

There are 5 different types of pillows so it can be overwhelming (just as in any store) to know which one to buy. I knew what I was looking for since I had slept on it already but I would suggest if this is new to you to read the material to see which one best suits your needs. There is a large difference among prices so that will be a factor as well. You can pay between $30 to $120 for a standard pillow. I chose the next to the least expensive.

Purchasing, shipping, returns and customer service:

Purchasing is simple. Just click on what you want and how many you want. If you want to be notified by e-mail then make sure you put your real e-mail address on the form so you will be notified as I was of tracking information. But note – this isn’t fine print but it is on the site: ”Include me on the mailing list to receive pacificcoast.com promotional emails.” If you don’t want to make sure that block is not checked.

There are two shipping options: "Ship via FedEx Ground (1-2 days to ship plus 3-7 days to deliver)
Ship via FedEx 2nd Day Air (1-2 days to ship plus 2 days to deliver)". I gave them 9-10 business days, which would be the maximum amount of time. The items arrived in 8 days.

Shipping charges vary by what you buy. For example a comforter is $9.00 but a pillow is $7.00 – which is per pillow so shipping did add up! There is a lot of shipping information including international orders. Just go to customer service. That link is very helpful.

The only reason I called customer service was my mistake. I looked at the shipping and saw the total was $14.00 but when I first looked at the customer service page I thought it said $5.00 so I called. A very nice man actually spent some time talking with me about the pillows and the company. You may have one from a store that will be different than mine slightly even though they are both manufactured by Pacific Coast. Pacific Coast makes them for various stores and they may be made differently. For example, hotels may have ones that are firmer or less firm than mine even if it says DownAround (The type I chose.) on it. He looked at shipping and I looked again and saw that it was $7.00. He was very, very nice.

Pacific Coast’s return policy is 30 days of receipt for a refund. Information is clearly spelled out on the website.

My final thoughts:

This is a great site. It is easy to use. They have wonderful products in a variety of price ranges and about anything you could want in this linen category. The shipping was on time. I will order from them again rather than a store after speaking with the customer service representative because I feel as if I know exactly what I am getting.
