Pottery Barn Kids

Overall Rating: 2/5.0 store rating

Dismayed by poor customer service

I recently tried to order an anywhere chair cover to replace one I had bought previously from Pottery Barn Kids because our dog (new puppy!!) chewed a hole through the cover and broke the zipper. The old cover was monogrammed in script with my daughter's name, Elizabeth. When I tried to order the exact same cover monogrammed with her name, the website would not allow me to enter her entire name because it exceeded 8 letters. I thought this was a mistake or I must pay extra to have an additional letter monogrammed, so I called customer service to place the order directly. The customer service rep informed me the website was correct, that although there is clearly plenty of room to monogram more than 8 letters on the cover, it was impossible. I explained to her that I had previously ordered a monogrammed cover and it had in fact been monogrammed with 9 letters. She said she didn't know how because it was indeed impossible. So, then I asked if I could have my daughter's initials monogrammed instead of her entire name. The customer service rep told me that this was also impossible because they do not offer initial monograms on anywhere chair covers. The customer service rep told me I should order a non-monogrammed cover and take it somewhere else to be monogrammed.
I have ordered many items from Pottery Barn Kids before and I have always been impressed by the quality of the products and have been willing to pay a higher price for them. I was dismayed when I was told to basically go somewhere else when all I wanted was to have a simple monogram of a very common girl's name embroidered on one of their products. I was even willing to settle for a different font or initials in order to have this item personalized. After speaking to the customer service rep, I felt as though PB kids doesn't care if they lose my business and quite frankly they have.
