POTTERY BARN- THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED

Recently had the displeasure of ordering an item from Pottery Barn in December of 2002. The item was back ordered, which we understood. The item was to be delivered two and a half months later. We were scheduled to go on a cruise and the delivery date was to be three days before we left. We called Pottery Barn to let them know that we were expecting the item before we left. They let us know THEN that the item would be delivered later than the original date and while were to be on our cruise. My husband told Pottery Barn that we would be away at that time and, without telling us, they CANCELED the item and put us on the back of the list for the same item to be delivered NOW IN THE END OF APRIL!!!! The only way we found this out is that they sent us a letter stating that the item would be delivered the end of April. If we were told that the item would be canceled we would have made arrangement for someone to be available to accept the item. In the mean time we are in receipt of a mirror that matches the bench. We called them to voice our dissatisfaction and they said with no emotion, "This is our policy, the customer representative should have told you this." There was no attempt to rectify the situation. It sounded like an automated voice on the other end of the phone. This is not what I would call a company who values it's customers.
I would recommend that you steer clear of POTTERY BARN. They obviously don't try harder, they don't have to.... Feb 05 '03
