Full review
I've finally just received my order from Soft Surroundings, after what was about a two to three week wait (though, judging from these other reviews, that's nothing to complain about). However, that didn't bother me as I'd been anticipating my items with what can best be described as excitement: the pictures in the catalog were beautiful, and the items were ones I'd been looking for for a awhile, and ones that only Soft Surroundings seemed to carry (two simple, artsy tunics and a linen skirt).
I ordered smalls in everything (I'm about a 6/8). Well, the tunics could have fit the Russian Circus inside them- the 'breezy tunic' and the 'artist tunic' (the one with the pintucks) are massively big, and NOT FITTED AT ALL, even though they are in the pictures. I don't even think downsizing to an XS would help. On top of that, the fabric was cheap, and in the case of the itchy linen of the artist tunic, the fabric was actually pulling away from the seams. They honestly looked like maternity clothes. The simple linen skirt (with the sash-y belt, comes in tall) on the other hand, was so small that it wouldn't even zip up.
Soft Surroundings needs to represent their clothes more accurately in the photos. The pictures where models are wearing shirts that are secretly hair-clipped in the back to make the clothes more fitted need to be fixed. Now, even though the clothes were misrepresented, I get to pay the 7 bucks in return shipping to not own anything from this company anymore. Wonderful.
Not only that, but they need more of a balance in the way their clothes are sized and/or fit.
Now I get to send all three items back, and if the reviews I've read are correct, and I hope the sarcasm I write with is blatantly apparent in this paragraph, I can't wait for the hassle-free fun this promises to become.
