WATCH OUT WHEN YOU ORDER WITH VITA COST

I looked at my Discover CC bill tonight and I noticed a $14.95 charge on there from a place called Shopping Essential.

We called Discover and right away they told us that have had disputes with them in the past.

They told us to call them and see if what they say.

When I called they said I agreed to sign up for their program. I told them I have never heard of them before and to credit my account.

In the meantime, while I was on the phone talking to them, my husband typed in shopping essential in Google and the first thing we see is something that says "Rip off report. Shopping essentials." There are tons of people saying how they had unauthorized charges by them.

When I asked how they got my information they said I signed up through Vitacost.com.

The name sounded familiar and I think I ordered my prenatals from them last October!

So I have been charged by this company for almost a year now.

I'm not sure why I never noticed this before. Maybe I thought it was something my Dh bought and it just never caught my eye. Today we were looking at our statement together and he asked me what that was.

Anyway, after talking to my CC company she informed us that this company Shopping Essentials is in cahoots with several etailers. When you purchase something, right before you hit approve I think there is a small box that is checked that says you want to sign up for a free month trial from this company. If they don't hear from you they continue billing you month after month.
Of course, unless you pull out the magnifying glass to uncheck this box, you don't even see this. Or they just sell your information to them.

They are associated with lots of etailers, Vista Print is one that I can remember reading about. I even saw classmates.com mentioned.

Anyway, if this happens to you and you call shopping essentials and mention that you are going to use an attorney they get scared and supposedly refund you. I'm waiting to see.
