I have been ordering with Vitacost for over 5 years and have been very pleased with their service and prices. Shipping was always very fast, even out to Hawaii and Alaska. (I have never waited more then 5 days) I have to agree with the latest posts however that they have gone downhill profoundly and quickly in the past couple months. I have now been on the phone with service 3 times about my order. The problem seems to center around their new (poor) shipping practices. They are now using UPSMail Innovations instead of UPS Blue or USPS Priority mail.
My complaints are as follows:
1) Same day shipping is GONE. I woke up very early on Saturday Jan5th to place my order and ensure it went out that day (to compensate the time difference). In the past my Saturday orders DID get sent if they recieved early in the morning. My order did not ship until Jan7th Monday. No items were on backorder so there was no reason for this.
2) The UPSMailInnovations program is ghastly to Hawaii and Alaska. Out to Hawaii shipping is now by boat instead of priority air mail. (packages from the US West Coast to Hawaii take up to 4 weeks)
When I called Vitacost 2 days ago about my order and learned of this horrid developement I was cheerfully told by the phone rep: "we switched becuase it is a better method of shipping!". How a boat is "better" then an airplane or how 3 weeks delivery time is "better" then 5 days is a mystery beyond my comprehension. But that is what he told me. (I am not making this up!)
Perhaps people in the 48 states will fare well under with this new, "better" program. But for those of us out here in the hinter lands of the planet it is a disaster. I am furious. My vitamins are used for disease management (Ill spare you the details). I have now spent over $200 locally to get what I should have had a week ago.
In fairness to Vitacost, I will withdraw this complaint if: 1) My order is re-shipped either Priority Mail or UPS Red Label.(I was told today I must wait another week before I request this) 2) They dump this sordid UPSMailInnovations program (at least to Hawaii and Alaska) and reinstitute true "same day shipping"
Thank you for reading this.
