Walgreens.com has an online pharmacy that has really been a lifesaver for me. I take 3 prescriptions regularly, but I don't like taking them, and every time I would run out and need to visit a pharmacy again, I would end up being tempted to simply stop taking them completely.

"Oh I don't really need those - I feel great!" And I would feel just fine until the half-life of the medications came and my body started to feel the withdrawal, leaving me then in a state of mind where I wasn't stable enough to really do much of anything. I would call a friend or family member to pick my prescriptions for me, or one time I had to ask my best friend to not only go with me to the pharmacy, but sit in the car and WATCH me take the medication because I hate taking it so much.

All of this drama changed when I realized I could have my medications DELIVERED right to my door automatically and refilled automatically using the Walgreen's service. Of course, this requires a prescription from a doctor that has several refills to be effective . . . once the refills run out, Walgreens sends you a message saying they could not refill, and they do this a full month in advance, which makes contacting your doctor easier.

I now see a doctor who will only give one month of medication at a time, securing the fact that I will actually come visit for refills, but for the 6 month period that I had non-stop service from Walgreens Online Pharmacy, I simply was not ever tempted to stop taking my medications, and I enjoyed relative stability as a result. Going without seemed silly when I had paid for them and they were sitting there staring at me!

My orders were always accurate - a VERY important thing when taking medications.

Making an account is quite easy, and there is a separate area for emails from Walgreens.com that is secured - you will be notified in your regular email that a message is waiting for you, and only with your unique Walgreens.com password can you access it. This was the way I discovered that my prescription refills had run out, and that since I was no longer seeing the physician who had prescribed them, I had a month in which to secure another and get my medications again.

Walgreens.com automatically contacts the physician's office when a prescription runs out initially, and I'm not quite sure how they do this . . . probably a customer service person calls them and attempts to renew, just like a Pharmacy Tech would at a stationary pharmacy.

Another advantage of using Walgreens.com Online Pharmacy, of course, is privacy. There are still stigmas associated with some medications, and no matter how professional the staff, purchasing your monthly dose of very private, diagnosis-indicating drug from a pharmacy tech you don't even know can be stressful. Even a deterrant to getting medication!

Walgreens.com also offers a wide variety of products on their website that are fun to look at, although I think they need an updated formatting or online storefront.

Overall, I was completely satisfied with Walgreens.com Online Pharmacy, and hope to talk my current doctor into giving me prescriptions with more refills so I can start using it again!
