Confirmation printouts waste LOTS of paper!

Although you eventually get to what you want to order, you are eventually inundated with unnecessary and unwanted ads when all you want is a simple printout of the order confirmation.
When finalizing the order, I asked for a confirmation printout. Where a single page would have sufficed, X-10 instead sent me FOUR additional pages of ads. When the email confirmation arrived later, I again got three or four MORE pages of ads. |

Do not let yourselves fooled by x10 products. The design of these products is below the published spec.For instance the video transmitter is marketed with a capability of continuous image and sound on a 100ft radius.After I tried it the receiver and sender have to be at below 10ft with no obstacles in between! When you attempt to return the product they will do all they can to hinder the refund process by making you call different people and departments at x10.

Shipped fast.. but wireless cameras are total dog s%$#....
They claim 100ft range.. won't go beyond 20ft at best. The camera and the receiver has to be in "line of sight" to work. Want the receiver connected to your computer upstairs but want a camera in the basement to watch the kids, forget it! To get this to work on your computer, you take a receiver which was originally designed to go to your VCR, and plug the VCR receiver to a USB converter via RCA cables. Junky 20 year old technology at best. I didn't expect this to be top of the line equipment, I was happy to have a grainy picture and maybe slower frames per second, but it should have at least worked anywhere in the house within the 100ft specs. |

X10 tech support can only be described as useless in my opinion. While their sales staff is quick to sell you whatever they think you need and ship it to you promptly, don't expect to find anyone who can help you with technical issues if all doesn't go well straight out of the box. I have contacted them numerous times over the past three days about an I/O error I am having with installing the Vanguard software and all they can do is keep telling me how to download the software off their site. This does not tell me how to fix the problem. Absolutely useless, useless, useless.

X10 simply has wonderful products for my home security needs. The protector plus home security system. The phone support was good at walking me through the setup. However, lamp module was NOT working initially, the support team was ready to replace the peace. But my electronics dude solved the issue, saying that I had some phase shift in the power supply and when plugged in same source, it worked like charm. I feel x10 products are great and their sales support team is friendly and gave to good deals.

I ordered a Home Video Sender on the Tuesday before Super Bowl, with free shipping. I expected it to take at least a week, and was surprised to find that it arrived in only 3 days. I am happy with the product and would not hesitate to order from them again.

I ordered a battery pack for my x-10 camera. Now I can use it anywhere without power. I set it up near our bird feeder in the back yard and my wife can watch and take pictures of the birds when they come in to feed. I am very satisfied with the x-10 camera.

As a Sr. EE/ IT Systems Analyst I have been experimenting with X-10 for over 30 years now. I am proud that I now have my home formally set up with Acive Home.
I have been shopping with X10 Direct for numerous years, no longer fundamentally Radio Shack as it was decades ago. I enjoy seeing new options on-line and via newsletter, and speaking with Custerner Support personell, when I have questions regarding new possibilities.

I ordered 5 WS467 x10 wall switches as I have a couple that have quit working. First I was annoyed by the pop-up ads. Second they advertised free shipping on orders greater than $49.99. My order was $51.96. The shipping was show free until I received the order confirmation. They had added $10.00 shipping and tax in a state that they did not indicate there would be tax.
This company is a bait and switch. |

X-10 Bucks are a joke. I broke my purchase up into a gift purchase and one for me. I was ready to spend $65 additional dollars in addition to the $30ish I earned in X-10 bucks. The web site is horrible for this and the phone support is just as bad. The nail in the coffin was when I found out the the X-10 bucks I earned on the two purchase I made (within 10 minutes of eachother) couldn't be applied to my $100 additional order. I got fed up and cancelled my order. You lost a sale.

I wished to return the product. The department that handles returns was not available over the weekend, which would be understandable, except that when I did speak to a representative (who was far less than friendly), I was told the RMA number was generated automatically, and that the reps had no control over it (I had my shipping label ready by this point, and wanted to ship it then.) If a rep isn't able to generate the RMA #, a rep shouldn't be required to start the RMA process. There should have been an automated option over the weekend, perhaps even requiring I call back Monday to confirm.
I really wasn't happy with the demeanor of the rep I spoke with, however. She was impolite, not friendly, and just seemed generally unhappy. I would prefer to speak to polite and friendly representatives. In addition, the reason for the return was incorrectly entered in the RMA.
Even though this store offers unique items not available elsewhere, I would be reluctant to shop there again. The company lacks professionalism.
