My worst online transaction was with Zales.com. It's amazing that this company is still in business.. and they've accomplished that (staying in business) by being crooked and misleading customers.
I ordered a ring for my wife for Christmas (December 2005). I ordered the ring at the beginning of November (8 weeks before Christmas). I was told the item should arrive in "plenty of time" for Christmas. Believe it or not.. in April of 2006 I still had not received the item. Nobody could give me an explanation or reason. Their customer service number is run by a bunch of 16 year olds who don't care and have no knolwedge or expereince of their company. I finally called THE HEAD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.. Steve Fontaine to try and get this resolved. He assigned a woman named "Marty" to rectify this problem for me. She was supposed to be a "Special Assistant" who would take care of this for me. I was promised free shipping plus a "substantial discount" on the item. I finally received the item in (almost May).. was charged full shipping and full price. I disputed the charge via my credit card and was only given the shipping back... no discount on the item as promised (and I had to fight to get the shipping back).
This was my first and last experience with this horrible company. Obviously I'm very negative about this company due to my experience... but I would highly caution ANYBODY from doing business with Zales.com. Nobody returns phone calls and it sure seems like nobody has a clue that works for them. I have ordered thousands of things online and have never had such a horrible experience. They've lost the business of me, my family, friends, and everybody I work with. I hope they get what they deserve - BANKRUPTCY!
