Made just for the EOS 20-D Digital SLR, the Battery Grip BG-E2 holds up to 2 Battery Packs BP-511 or 6 AA Batteries to offer double-length shooting time. The vertical shutter release makes shooting with the camera in a vertical position just as comfortable as shooting horizontally. The following functions are available in the vertical shooting position. Shutter, Main Dial, AF Point Selection, AF/FE Lock, and AV +/-. For AC driven shooting the BG-E2 is compatible with the AC Adapter Kit ACK-E2. Optional Hand strap E1 is available.

If you need the second battery this is a worthwhile accessory

The Bottom Line: Buy this if you use IS lenses a lot. Physically big, some camera bags won't hold the camera with it installed.

Canon battery grip for 20D not so hot

The Bottom Line: I don't recommend it. Too expensive for what it actually gives you.
Review: The BG-E2 fits into the camera body's battery compartment and screws in via the tripod mount. It has it's own tripod mount so you don't lose anything there. It houses 2 batteries or your own AA's but the convenience is probably for situations when...

This vertical grip adds great flexibility to my Canon 30D
