Its extremely uniform supercardioid pickup pattern provides high gain before feedback and excellent rejection of unwanted noise. Its high maximum sound pressure level (SPL) makes it useful for a variety of acoustic instruments, including drums, percussion, piano, reed, wind, and string instruments. The BETA 98/S can also be used for amplified guitars.

The Beta 98H/C is a premium cardiod condenser microphone designed for close proximity. By clamping the Beta 98H/C onto the bell of a brasswind instrument or the rim of a drum, musicians can get great sounds with little or no further adjustment. The gooseneck and ratcheting swivel joint allow for easy positioning and teh isolation shock mount reduces mechanical noise. An angle brace is included for further support as well.
