Sony is upgrading its basic Memory Stick PRO Duo media line. The new, enhanced, line benefits from the same extended durability as the high-speed version, with a wider operating temperature range of between -25 C and 85 C (compared to the previous range of 0 C to 60 C). The new 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo offers affordable memory for high-capacity memory users. It works with an array of different applications including Sony MP3 audio recorders, PSP (PlayStation Portable), video cameras and computers with a Memory Stick slot. It is equipped with MagicGate, a copyright protection software that consists of authentication and encryption technologies. It has a theoretical maximum data transfer speed of 160 Mbps (20 MB / sec) with a minimum write speed of 15 Mbps to ensure high-quality, real-time recording of moving images.
