After the cancellation of the original live-action series, STAR TREK launched an animated spinoff that continued to chart the intergalactic adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise on its missions to outer space, with cast members George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, and, of course, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner all reprising their now-iconic roles. Though its Saturday morning timeslot marked it as a children's show, the series benefitted from the animated format, which allowed greater creative freedom in the depiction of alien lifeforms and action sequences. This collection presents all 22 episodes of the shortlived series' first and only season.

The Bottom Line: While not perfect, Star Trek: The Animated Series is definitely among the best Star Trek has to offer.
