A truly inspiring tale

Date of Review:  Sep 25, 2000
Review: I read The Lost Boy yesterday. Having read A Child Called 'It' the day before, I was anxious to see how David would cope and what his life would be like after being saved from his mother's home.

THE LOST BOY: How does a kid regarded as a "thing" by his parent survive?

Date of Review:  Aug 8, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you care about kids, you should read this book. If you REALLY care about kids, you REALLY should read this book.
Review: It is hard to be objective about the book The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer. Between gritting my teeth while reading this story, I tried to keep my objectivity but deep down I alternately wanted to help and really lash out at the child's abusive parent...

Searching For Love

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: The life of a child who was abused by his Mother. All he wanted was to be loved. He did find Love in some of the Foster Homes.
Review: This is the second book in the series that started with "A Child Called It". The first one was based on David's life between the ages of four to twelve. This book is based on his life between ages twelve to eighteen.

Paperback, The Lost Boy: A Foster Child's Search for the Love of a Family
Imagine a young boy who has never had a loving home. His only possesions are the old, torn clothes he carries in a paper bag. The only world he knows is one of isolation and fear. Although others had rescued this boy from his abusive alcoholic mother, his real hurt is just begining - he has no place to call home. This is Dave Pelzer's long-awaited sequel to A Child Called It. In The Lost Boy, he answers questions and reveals new adventures through the compelling story of his life as an adolescent. Now considered an F-Child (Foster Child), Dave is moved in and out of five different homes. He suffers shame and experiences resentment from those who feel that all foster kids are trouble and unworthy of being loved just because they are not part of a real family. Tears, laughter, devastation and hope create the journey of this little lost boy who searches desperately for just one thing - the love of a family.
