Product Description

 
This hilarious first novel by Gideon Defoe (apparently a descendent of Daniel Defoe, who wrote ROBINSON CRUSOE) takes place in 1837 and features a cast of bored pirates. Desperate for the kind of adventures pirates are supposed to engage in, their captain links the band up with Charles Darwin on a voyage to the Galapagos Islands and, eventually, to Victorian London. There they become involved in the venerable conflict over science vs. religion, when, as the newfangled evolutionary theories shake up the bishop of Oxford, Darwin enlists the pirates to help him win the argument.
