Product Description

 
Toyotas line of compact pickups loses a bed style for 2004. Tacoma offers 2-dr regular-cab and extended Xtracab models, plus crew-type Double Cabs with four conventional side doors and a 3-place rear bench seat. Xtracabs have two forward-facing rear jump seats. A V6 and two 4-cyl engines are offered with manual or optional automatic transmission. Tacoma comes with rear-wheel drive or 4WD that must be disengaged on dry pavement but has low-range gearing. Antilock brakes are standard on all Tacomas. Various trim/equipment packages are available, as are specialty 2WD PreRunner models with 4x4 styling cues. Gone for 04 is the optional flare-fender StepSide cargo box.

LOOKS LIKE IT RIDES, TOUGH

The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle because the manufacture of the product is known for reliability, and because I have driven this vehicle for two years with minor complaints.
Review: I purchased my 2004 (4 door) automatic, 2 wheel drive Tacoma new in 2003. Ride is stiff, but it's a truck not a car. Recommend the 6 cylinder over the 4 mainly for quicker acceleration from a stop, better hauling power, and again because it's a...

Rock solid truck

The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a reliable used truck, this is your best option. Will go 200K miles easily without missing a beat, assuming it is well maintained.
Review: I purchased my '04 Tacoma Xtracab 4x4 V6 in February 2004, after my '01 Dodge Dakota broke down once too many times. I needed a truck, and fast, so I did some research on reliability, and found that the Tacoma was rated highest in its class.

The Bottom Line: Best truck in 2004 in its class. Great value, highly rated in safety, you can't go wrong.
Review: I bought my Tacoma brand new off the lot. It's an extended-cab, V6, 4 wheel drive with the TRD and towing packages. It's more costly than an equivalent American offering, but definitely worth it.
