Product Review

Love this car, but in V8 only!

by   kabmommy ,   Jan 15, 2008

Pros:  Fun to drive, looks great, crazy speed.

Cons:  Gas mileage, lack of features, price.

The Bottom Line:  Yeah, it's small, and loud, and a little uncomfortable. But what did you expect? It's a sports car. Buy the V8! You won't regret it. Fun to drive, great looking.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

After reading a few reviews here, I had to add my opinion.

The mustang is meant to be a V8 car. Sure, it's a gas hog. But if you're gonna go, go big. I find it an offensive corruption of muscle car nostalgia that Ford even made the Mustang in a V6. But thats just me.

I own the V8 Mustang convertible, and I love it. It was an upgrade from the 2004 Mustang that I owned previously. The two cars are very different, and the newer is much better. Not only is it much faster, more fun to drive, and nicer looking, but it also has a lot of nice features. And I'm not just talking about the multi-color light up dashboard that was featured in the commercials. Though that is very cool. As was the MP3- CD player addition.

I would suggest that if you are in the market for this car, you should look for one with the package upgrade with the chrome accents in the interior. It is really sharp, and it is quite the throwback to the mustang of the 60s. I love the large odometer and tachometer. I also recommend the leather interior package upgrade.

As far as drive-ability, this car is, pardon the expression, an orgasm waiting to happen. I don't drive this car on a regular basis, so when I do, it always puts me in a better mood. Just to push on the gas and hear it purr is amazing. Add in the 10 speaker surround sound system, and you can't help but feel good. It truly is a driving experience.

Though it is a little pricey, it is worth every penny. I live just off of a military base, and there are lots of young, stupid guys driving rice burners, who know absolutely nothing about cars. Too often, they would pull up beside me at a light and rev their little engines in a poor attempt at flirting. You cannot put a price on the feeling of smoking some moron off the line.

If I had to list negatives, I would say the lack in options for techno gadgets. I couldn't find it with either GPS or sirius satellite radio- it comes satellite ready, but the after market costs are expensive. According to Ford, there are some Mustangs out there that come with satellite radio, but my dealer couldn't get me one!

Also, the gas mileage is, expectedly, terrible. But if you are looking for a fun weekend car, this should be on your short list.

I highly recommend the convertible option, though it's not for everyone. And, again, in my opinion, I think 5 speed is the only way to go. It increases the driving experience 10 fold.
