System is Loud, but with an onboard sound card performs ok
Pros:
loud
slighty better sound/crsip (10%) over a 40w altec lansing acs54
Cons:
minimal sound difference over other units with onboard sound
The Bottom Line:
If you have onboard sound, look at other options also. if you have an audigy2 or something of that nature, this may be the perfect pairing for your soundcard.

ok, the speakers are definately louder than my old 40watt 4.1 altec lansing system, this things bass is LOUD. boom boom boom ey ohhhh for sure, but it comes with a price tag.
for people with an onboard sound card, all this will really do is pump at 280 watts really, the sound will be PRETTY GOOD, i would say using my onboard card its a 10% improvement in crisp and clarity sound. my old unit was the asc54. also, onbbiousely, you can play this louder without getting any clipping/distortion.
overall, i would say this is an ok system. i paid only 70$ bucks for it, so its a good deal. would i pay 120$ or whatever the deals usually are online? NO - if i had a audigy2 soundcard or soemthing else, possibly. but i would have to explore how this sounds on an audidy as compared to other 5.1 systems. determine what you are looking for , and than make a decision. look into other units as an option and don't limit yourself
this review is basically for people who have an onboard sound card and do not want to imrpove it, and are looking for a new system.
in all, if you are loking for a new system, and you want loudness for a decent price, i would say this is a good way to go. but if u want full clarity and everyting like that, get this, and an audigy2 sound card or something, im sure with that, this thing will make a HUGE difference (i wouldnt hesistate to say having it go from 10% difference to 40% - sound cards make a HUGE difference!)
