Author's Review
INTRODUCTION:
I recently wanted to purchase a set of speakers for my laptop so that I could watch movies on it. Being a media laptop, I didn't think I should settle for the gutless sound provided by the onboard speakers, so I bought an external sound card and then purchased this speaker system on ProVantage.com. I can honestly say I'm very happy with this purchase.
DESIGN:
The system has a very attractive silver on black design. The grilles have small THX and Logitech logos on them, and look very professional. If you want to put the speakers up without the grilles, the silver face and central cone of the speaker look very modern.
SOUND:
This system has very clear sound, and a suprisingly wide frequency range. The unusual type of enclosure the subwoofer uses makes a 6 1/2 inch cone sound more like a 10, and it puts out plenty of bass for movies or music. The system overall can go extremely loud without suffering any distortion.
MODES/CONTROLS:
Being a 5.1 system, it's a little excessive if you're just wanting some speakers for music, but the Matrix mode on the remote turns all four side speakers on for music, allowing you to really crank the volume. Otherwise, there are sub, fader, and center controls allowing you to tailor the sound of the system to your personal preferences.
OVERALL:
For the price I paid, I believe this is the best system on the market. There are more impressive 5.1 systems out there, but this one is a bargain, and outperforms systems costing $50-$70 more.
