I am in love with my new iMac. Really! I love it because it is solidly built, affordable, and fun.
The first indication of the quality of this machine is it's packaging, construction, and software. The packaging job apple has done is amazing. I really enjoyed opening the box. It's perfect. It's clean, organized, and compact. I feel like I am opening up a masterful design. Beautiful packaging. It opened easily, and I was able to locate all my items.
The construction of the iMac itself is outstanding. This machine is heavy gauge aluminum, and glass. This machine is substantial, and not flimsy plastic. Apple didn't cut corners. The speakers are great! I am impressed by the sound quality. In addition, I ordered the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The bluetooth keyboard is compact and aluminum. I love it. I must concede, that the mouse feels a bit cheap. It is made of white plastic. However, it works great.
The software works great as well. I am running Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard). It has not crashed yet! 10.4 was good too. However, I am a little intimidated by the number of new features. I have not used "Spaces" yet; and I can't wait to start some new projects. Powerful and useful software is included. I don't know where to begin. The possibilities are endless.
I sold my two Apple Laptops in order to buy this new iMac. The high resale value of my 3-5 year old Macs helped me purchase a new mac. Actually, I was able to nearly pay for the entire upgrade. I can't believe I have a new Intel Core 2 Duo machine and beautiful 20" widescreen display. The price is fantastic. I am very pleased.
Most of all, I am having fun using my new mac. I am only limited by my imagination and time. I regret that many people will never have the same wonderful experience with technology. My parents are still using Windows ME edition. Very sad.
