a little box of heaven

I have recently bought this little mp3 player and it's great. It's great to be able to buy a apple product and have it be compatible with my dell pc. It's a really easy player to use, but first you have to get music onto it.
If you're using a pc you have to use MusicMatch Jukebox for the player. This is fine with me since it's what I already used and for those of you who need a music player on the computer I definitely recommend MusicMatch Jukebox. Apple tells you that the iPod is Plug and Play on the pc but it is really not. You have to download a player specific plug-in from the MusicMatch website. This is no big deal, it's a 10 MB file that is self-installing. Once this is installed when you plug the iPod into your computer it is automatically recognized.
Instead of using the optional usb cable that you can buy from Apple for $19 I suggest using firewire. If you don't have firewire on your computer then I suggest buying a firewire pci card. I bought a pci card with 3 firewire ports at bestbuy for $40. It is certainly worth it as I hope to begin using more firewire products in the future. (Firewire is also known as IEEE 1394)
The reason think firewire is so great is the transfer speed. When I first synced my iPod with MusicMatch it had to transfer 726 songs that took up 2.52 gbs. The connection transfered all of this in under 20 minutes.
The sound with the iPod is very good and very comperable to that of a cd.
The accessories included are very useful and high quality. The headphones are some of the nicest earbuds I've ever seen. Included is a cable that one end has a connecter for the iPod and the other end is a 6-pin firewire. This can either be inserted into your computer or it connects into the ac adapter to charge the iPod. Also included is a 6-pin to 4-pin firewire adapter.
