Great device for music or movies

I originally bought this for my wife, but she wanted more storage space. Sure enough about two months later the newer 32 GB iPod hit the market. So I got her the 32 GB unit and I got the hand-me-down 16 GB. I could not be happier.

This guy can hold all the music I ever need to take along, but for me the best feature is the ability to store and watch video. It is possible to convert almost any movie to an Mpeg 4 file and put it on the iPod. Most movies can be made to fit in a file between 800 Mb and 1.2 GB. The iPod screen is large enough for a single viewer to watch the movies in comfort. I have found I can attach the iPod to the stereo in my car for a great audio experience and I can put the iPod on the instrument panel using the flip open case I bought as a stand. With this set up I can watch movies with my lunch.

Another great feature of this device is the WIFI. I can browse the net in any hot spot. This allows the downloading of new music or movies from the internet. But I actually use this to cruise the net. THe device can be turned on its side to provide a wide screen which increases the size of the software keyboard so even my fat fingers can type addresses.

All in all this has a mixture of features I have not even had to time to completely explore. There are games available for it, there is of course music, and movies, but access to the web is a very powerful feature.

All in all I would recommend this to anyone. As others have pointed out it is really an iPhone without the cell phone parts. I am certain the price will come down at some point, and I am certain the memory will increase. That is the way of these things.

While I know people want a lot more memory, I find that I can fit 9-10 movies and a few thousand songs in the 16 GB I have on mine. While this is a lot less storage than my old 40Gb classic iPod, it is still plenty of space for me. The ability to watch videos is a big plus to me and I will never go back to the old iPod.

The only problem I have noted is that the battery will run down after a week or so if you do not charge the unit. THis happens even if it tis left completely turned off.
