Author's Review
To the non-professional, just the name - ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST - is daunting. But for anyone with an interest in home decorating and design, I urge you to not be put-off by the pretentious name and invest in the January issue ($5.95) while there's still time!
Titled "Interior Design Legends", it features the AD 100 designers and architects working today. You get a brief background of each, along with a small-but-telling photo - truly, I came away from this issue full of new ideas for interior design to try for myself. The issue is absolutely brimming with thought-inspiring photos and design ideas, and is a whopping 252 pages. (Even the advertisements were inspiring!)
I am a regular subscriber to Elle Decor, Traditional Home and the like, and positively eat this magazines up, stealing color schemes and painting techniques and accessory ideas from their pages with abandon. This issue is the first A.D. I've invested in, so I cannot attest to their consistency when it comes to appealing to the non-professional designers among us. But this particular issue is a must-have, if you, too, enjoy learning about design ideas and pilfering the best of them!
If nothing else, the size of the magazine and the classic black-and-white photo front makes it an impressive-as-hell coffee table mag.
