Author's Review
I recently bought the DVD set after a friend of mine introduced me to the comic genius that is known as Arrested Development. For those of you who haven't seen the show and are clicking on this randomly, perhaps a distant memory of a comment made to you about the show by a friend, you don't know what you're missing. I'm not typically the kind of person to watch TV shows, and I'm even less of the type of person to buy TV series on DVD, but if you're looking for an intelligent, but not stuffy, comedy series in which you feel you really get to know the characters, Arrested Development is for you. I truly believe this is the best comedy to hit television in the last ten years, if not more. The more likely reason for someone to be reading these reviews is you're trying to find out if the DVDs are worth buying, you've seen a couple episodes on TV, thought they were funny, but most likely didn't understand what was going on. Let me assure you, it's well worth the 20 or so dollars it'll cost you. The show itself is fantastic, the camera work is remarkable considering the whole "move with the people" idea behind the show that goes against the "pre-made world sets" kind of shows. The special features include hilarious deleted scenes that were cut for time, a much better version (extended) version of the first episode, and an insightful look into how the show was made. My recommendation? Buy it, share it with friends, and try to save this show that for some reason has suffered in the ratings even though it constantly wins awards and media praise.
