Must see for art school graduates!

This movie is about Jerome Platz (Max Minghella) and his desire to become the most famous artist of the 21st century. The movie opens with his childhood and adolescense, focusing on how he doesn't fit in, but excells in art. He decides to attend Strathmore Academy of Art in New York. Upon moving in, he finds out about the "Strathmore Strangler" a serial killer loose in the area. He also sees his work go unnoticed and criticized while the less traditional artists are praised. During the movie, Jerome tries to win the girl of his dreams, as well as the respect of the art world and survive the strangler.

As a graduate of art school, I found this movie hillarious. The classroom critiques and professor characters are right on. Someone less familiar with art colleges and the art world might not get the subtle jokes or understand what the fuss is all about.

The ending is a surprising twist that is both funny and a critical social commentary on the price of fame. This movie didn't get the best reviews, but I think that's because the critics just didn't "get" it. In order to fully appreciate it, you really have to be artist.
