Author's Review

I am a huge fan of The Sims 2. I have all of the expansion packs for it. I also happen to have The Sims 2: Open for Business for Windows. I was given this pack for Christmas from my mother who knows how much time I spend playing this game! Needless to say that I was very happy to have gotten it. It was one of my favorite gifts. I may be an adult, but the kid in me has to jump out and play some times.

The Sims 2: Open for Business for Windows is good for Windows 98 and over. All you do is put in the disk and hit install. You can choose custom install or you can just let it fully install it's self. You can register the new game right then and there. You also will need the CD key code that is printed on the inside of the box. With out this the game will not complete the install properly and will shut off. Installation only takes a couple of minutes tops. Not long at all and is very easy to do.

Not that With The Sims 2: Open for Business is installed properly. The icon found in your tart menu or on your desk top will allow you to play the game. You no longer click on the original Sims 2 icon. You click on the Open For Business icon instead to run your game. I have been running it for a while now and have seen no mess ups at all with the original game or the new packs. They all run just fine. No skipping or any thing of that nature.

The graphics are just as nice as in the original game. The color sharp and picture vibrant. Nothing that I could 'complain about. It is almost like watching the TV thats how clear it is. Sounds good, no flaws there either. Just all around working perfectly. I have had no trouble at all in any way with it what so ever. It runs just as smooth as the day I got it, and I am still very pleased with it.

The object of the original game is pretty much to keep your family happy, healthy and well. You build your families by making them have kids and so on. With that said. The Sims 2: Open for Business opens a new door for your Sims. They can purchase a community lot the is already built, or buy and empty lot to build on. They then buy items for the store, or business of what ever kind you have chosen. Now they set prices for those items, cheap, average or higher. Next they hire employees for their business. You do so by the computer or phone. Once that is done. Use the open.close business sign found in the decor section under pictures. Click it and select call in all employees. Then give each employee a job to do.

Your employees need to be given a job. You can have a cashier to run the register, a stock person to keep up on items you are selling. You can have a tidy up person to clean up after customers and keep the place nice, you can have sales people who can help the customers or convince them to buy items from your business. Then you can pick a manager to watch the place while you are gone so you do not have to worry about your business losing money.

In The Sims 2: Open for Business you can earn badges for your Sims , your employees do earn them as well. The higher the badge status. The better they are at the task at hand. Sales, flower arranging and more. As your business runs customers come in. It is the owner Sim's job and the job of his or her employees to care for the customers needs. This builds customer loyalty and keeps them coming back. If unhappy the customer will complain, leave or slam their bags to the floor and your Sims will lose money from it.

Once your customer loyalty is up high enough you get a new business rank. This un locks a business perk that you can choose. Such as better whole sale prices, better influence and more. You get the idea. Once you reach high enough a critic will come in. He or she will look like a normal Sim and be dressed normal. But if you watch close enough you will see that they carry a clip board and write details down about your business. Be sure that this critic stays happy and you will get the best in business reward.

You can find the deed to your business, your first dollar earned in a frame and your best of business award right in the owner Sims inventory. Now lets say your Sim dies. He was married. The deed passes on to the wife of the Sim. She now dies, their first born child gets the deed. If a teenager they can run the business them selves. If the children of those Sims were all under teen age. Then the deed goes to the nearest oldest family member of the previous owner, or to the best friend with the highest rank, rather than the child. If the owner Sim takes his or her spouse and teenager to the business the entire bunch can order the staff, and also make business choices. If they bring a child, the child can do nothing but browse the lot and talk to people but that is it.

It is very easy, but at the same time very hard. If your staff is not paid enough they will quit. If you do not give them breaks often enough they will quit. You have to keep them happy for them to stay and work for you. provide bathrooms around the place so they can go if they need to. Customers will also leave if there are no bathrooms and also if they get hungry. It is always good to add a little lunch room or some thing and let one of your staff be a server, and another be a seater. This will help keep your customers and your staff on their feet and stay with in the lot for you.

The game is fun. I like it a lot. It brings new light to the game. More to do. There are new objects as well. Signs, decorations, tables, outfits and much more. You get a lot of new things with With The Sims 2: Open for Business pack. I have found it to be interesting and fun. I have been playing it for months and have come a long way. The best part is that this is not a game you can beat! Even if you get top rank and have lots of loyal customers. That doesn't mean that you are done, you have to keep those customers loyal to you or you will lose money. Your rank will go down and you will have to build it all up again. So really you never get done playing the game. It is a lot of fun, passes time and gives me some thing to do. I like it a lot. It is best for teens and older. Would be a bit hard for a kid. But I do highly recommend it.
