Breakdown
grand opening interlude (no rating)
Short instrumental. Its a nice beat and gets you in the mood for whats to come
At the speed of life (10/10)
What a way to start of the album. Pure Classic !!! deep shattering baseline and a extremely good instrumental. Xzibit drops some great lyrics here, which are full of emotion and meaning
Just Maintain (8/10)
Now following up from such a classic such as At the Speed of Life is a hard task, and although X drops a not to shabby track it just seems to lack some of that feeling that At the Speed Of Life had. The songs has a good beat and a not to bad verse from Xzibit however the real punch in the guts comes from Hurricane Gee, she really detracts from the overall feel to this track
Eyes May Shine (10/10)
Here we go, back to the go ol Xzibit that we heard from the first track. This track has nice production and good lyrics. The speed is slowed down a bit in this track compared to the first 2 trakcs but Xzibits voice is as good as always. Excelent track
Positively Negative (10/10)
Joined by King Tee this track is a ripper. The beat is more old skoolish but never the less is still good. Once again lyrics are excelent and Xzibit totaly tears it up, so to speak
Dont Hate Me interlude (not rated)
Its time to take a break from the absulutely geneis of the past 4 tracks. Listenin to music this good can make you tired you know :P Its good this interlude was chosen to be put here as it gets us ready for the next track, which is the best on this album
Paparazzi (11/10)
AS i said before this is the BEST !!! track on the album. It is a pure classic and probably Xzibits most known work ever. It has one of the best beats i have ever listened to and the lyrics, well they speak for themself. Xzibit basicialy raps about how rappers are moving into mainstream rap and how he will stay underground for ever. These are the most inteligent written lyrics on this Album. Paparazzi will go down as one of the best tracks EVER.
The Foundation (10/10)
Now following up from Paparazzi would be hard for most rappers, Xzibits seems to be able to do it. The Foundation has once again some greatly thought about and written lyrics. The production is once again top notch. Overall another excelent track from xzibit.
Mrs. Crabtree interlude (no rating)
Pointless interlude, no point at all. Well atleast it gives us a quick break to get our brethe back after the 2 past tracks
Birds eye View (6/10)
One of the poorer tracks on the album. The beats isnt as good as previous tracks but isnt bad. Its kinda in the middle, i do believe Xzibit coulda done alot more with this beat tho. Xzibits part isnt to bad but once again Hurricane Gee detracts from even further from this track. My opinion is listen to this the first few times then skip it, your not missing much
Hit and Run part 2 (3/10)
Shocking, worst song on this album. I would of rathered a interlude in place of this song. The beat is as bad as it gets and the lyrics, well there even worse. Do yourslef a favour. Skip this track
Carry the Weight (10/10)
After the past 2 trakcs things finialy start to heat up again. Once again a great beat, its very irrie, something similer to Havics work on the Infamous. Bascially all the songs on this album have good beats. Lyrics once again are aproaching top class. Thank god we're back to some good music
Plastic Surgery (9/10)
The beat used here is very hardcore and semes to remind me of the East rather than the Westcoast. After a few listens it tends to get a bit annoying, never the less this song is quite good, and the lyrics are once again amazing. Xzibit raps using a metaphor, see if you can pick up what his talkin about.
Enemies and Friends (9/10)
This is the last track (apart from the interlude) on this album. The beat is very underground and in a word, beautiful. The lyrics talk maingly about the streets. Although this is a good sond, something is missing, the same thing that makes much of the other songs so great but i just cant seem to put my finger on it. But still this is a great way to end up the album
Last Words interlude (no rating)
Just a way to finish of the album. The beat is very similer if not the same as the Grand Opening. Nice beat to chill to but realy it is a bit of a waste
So in summary what does all this mean. Put simple this album is AMAZING. I give this album 5 stars and i believe it is a classic. Not much comes close to this album for its beats and lyrics. Xzibit starts off his career in amazing fashion.
