One of the best Dashing Games on the market!
Date of Review: Mar 2, 2009
The Bottom Line: Great game, easy to learn and play.
Diner Dash is one of the most popular games in the time management series of games. In reflection to this games debut, this game set off a new trend in the world of PC gaming. Due to the success of Diner Dash and it's sequels, time managment took off in the gaming market. Soon the market was full of games with similar strategy and play styles.
While I've included a list of recommendations for those that enjoy this game, if you have not played this style of PC games this is the game to cut your baby teeth on. This game is a great way to learn how these work, most of the followups by Playfirst and other time management games build on the basic concepts started in this and other earlier games.
Diner Dash been loved and enjoyed by people of all ages. Adults to children will enjoy the action as they race to serve the customers and make enough money to move on to the next level. You must serve your customers quickly and efficentily to maximaze your profits.
Game Play:
In this game, you control Flo and move her around a restruant. Everything needs to be done quickly, and there are bonuses for chaining the actions. The first objective is seating your customers. Matching the color of their clothing to the chair color will earn you more points. Once you have customers seated, you will see them put down the menu's and must take their order, try to take as many orders as you can at one time to deliver to your cook. Then deliver the plates of food. Next click each table once to collect the pay. After all the checks are paid, go click each table again to pick up the dishes and put them in the bin.
There is a storyline with each game in this series. I tend to rush through the gameplay and barely notice the comic story as it pops up throughout various levels.
The concept is so simple even a child will have fun, though, younger children may have some problems with end levels when the gameplay gets a little more frantic.
Playfirst has also incorporated a fantastic tutorial to get everyone started on the fun. First time players will benefit from following along with the tutorial.
Graphics:
Very well done for this genre of games. The colors all stand out clearly and there is no confusion whatsoever.
Sound:
Cute music will follow you as you run your restraunt to success.
Negatives: This game is very addicting and fun. The only thing that is a negative is that a true lover of games in this genre will beat it all too quickly. Even going back and replaying for expert scores on all levels is easily achievable within a week of owning the game.
Playability: One of the things that some gamers love to do with Diner Dash and it's similar games, is challenge yourself to master each level with an expert tag. Some of the levels the expert tag can really be elusive to try and nab. Other levels this will come easily. Getting expert level increases your reward amounts and sometimes opens up new upgrades.
Once you have mastered the fun of Diner Dash and completed the game, there are four other versions of Diner Dash now available. Diner Dash 2, Flo on the Go, Flo through the Seasons, and Flo through Time. Each offers a new set of resturants to master.
I also recommend checking out the other Dash games Playfirst has released. Flo makes an appearance in Wedding Dash 1 and 2 and Parking Dash. Her friends are also involved in Fitness Dash. Flo is the star of the show in Cooking Dash.
