Author's Review
I have the ultimate baby wrap. It is a love/hate relationship. This wrap is intended to be very versatile, I will tell more on that later. It is a simple piece of cloth, black, slight stretch. Comes in a box, with a DVD. Nothing to fancy.
There is a large pocket, no zipper. I thought that I would want a zipper, now I am glad I do not have one, it would be hard to get into quickly while carrying all my other bags and such. Thanks to the stretch though things stay in quite well. I put a binky, keys and cellphone in there.
I love how the wrap completely supports my back and my baby. I do not feel like she will fall out, or that she is being squeezed. I had my daughter 3 weeks in the wrap, then took her out and put a chunky 6 month old in. No need to readjust the wrap since there is a little bit of stretch. Even with a much larger baby I did not feel any strain on my back, it actually felt better having a larger baby in the wrap. With a larger baby I feel the wrap tighten around my core and forces me to stand up straighter, nice posture help. The wrap is not too large so it fits well in the diaper bag, but does take up more room then my sling. Good thing the wrap is black since every time I put it on the tails end up on the ground. I also love the rings on the ends, instead of knots.
For the hate part of the relationship, It is hot. Even when it is cold out and we go walking, I only wear a light fleece jacket, around us both. We will be sweating when we return. This wrap definitely will not get used much during summer. It does take some time and practice to get the whole wrapping bit. I had my husband help in the beginning. Although I did have some trouble figuring out the slings too.
All in all I recommend the wrap, it truly is the only way I got my housework and life done when I first had my baby. I have a sling as well and I always have a hand or arm on her, with the wrap my hands are free, her head is not bobbling and she is content. The sling would just hold her, the wrap embraced her, her entire body was supported. My daughter faces out now and rather than having her suspended from her crotch, she is actually sitting, the fabric surrounds her bum and thighs and she is actually sitting. My friend has a Bjorn and her baby bobs her head and slips a lot. We are happy with the wrap and I recommend it!
