Finally a western that explores the female side!

Although this western flick may never achieve the fame it might deserve, it is a must see among western fans. Why, because it explores the hardships of women during this period and represents it rather realistically, too. The acting is mostly well done, and the plot is original if nothing else.
Anyone can see these girls are all from rather different backgrounds, struggling to make it in a real man's world. Escaping the odds you might say.
The biggest problem I had with the movie is that it tended to be a downer. I wanted a better ending for the girls. Perhaps this is why it didn't come across as a great movie, but rather a realistic one. It explores avenues of the West that have seldom been looked at seriously by Hollywood and for originality alone it should get bigger scores. The male parts were very well acted and should be acknowledged. Male western fans should get a kick out of this one, a nice set of female leads. Madeleine Stowe was in perfect form for her character, as was Drew Barrymore.
