Heroes for Hire: Bad Lady Needs Boot in Head
Pros:
Customizable characters, lotsa lotsa carnage, and a fun story.
Cons:
A wee bit too short, not enough character selection.
The Bottom Line:
Character customization, co-op bad guy smashing, powerful weapons and armor, and heroic jaunts into the evil depths of Baldur's Gate...the world needs heros!

Author's Review
My archer walked into the tall gates of the city of Baldur's Gate. The cobblestone road before me was moistened by the night air. Indeed, there was adventure to be had here. Obviously, or else the programmers would not have placed me here.
And adventure there was!
From the first moment of swift vengeance in retaliation for a simple mugging to the downfall of the Dark Soldier herself, this game kept me wrapped in a warm, fuzzy blanket of weapons, upgrades, magic, and blood.
Speaking in simple terms of game dynamics, I would rate the play control around a 7 (out of 10). Accurately tracking the smaller creatures with a bow and arrow is a bit difficult, though you can customize your character skills to help facilitate death by the wood shaft of an angry arrow. Using swords, axes, and knives is a bit easier though not without its small, excusable problems. There are 3 great characters to choose from...a human archer, a dwarven fighter, and an elven sorceress...I just wish there were a few more selections. Using a simple feats system, you can upgrade your character in your own special way as you advance in levels, such as increasing hit points, gaining new attacks, and so on and such. Stronger weapons and armor are practically thrown into your lap every 10 minutes making it fun to become a treasure hunter...and worth your while if gold is what you crave.
The game's plot is pretty straightforward. You're told to go somewhere, accomplish some task, and you do it. The next part of the game then opens, and you continue on. While it is extremely linear, it's still fun. You don't have to worry about where to go next or getting lost. You just kill evil doers. What could be more fun?!
Graphically, the best part of the game are the water effects. As your hero wades through pools and rivers, the water majestically parts and imparts beautiful waves to the water behind you. The character animation is decent, however if you're playing co-op, it can get a little confusing try to figure out if you're killing this guy or that guy.
And that's it..the best part of the game. Cooperative play. You and a buddy (or buddyette) can bring about even greater amounts of carnage and destroy evil with even more prejudice! More more more!
More more more...this game is a must buy for those who enjoy the Action/RPG genre.
Buy this game. Buy it. The Dark Alliance must be destroyed.
