Works Great

I just captured a 45min VHS video and burned it to DVD and VCD. Everything worked great.

You'll need a sound card to record audio, as this device only captures the video.

The included Ulead software kept the audio and video in sync, but when I captured using Roxio's DVD Builder the video and audio were not in sync.

Make sure you don't use any other programs while capturing video, or frames will be dropped. And the worst thing about it is that the "dropped frames" count is always reported as zero--probably a driver bug.

Because of the potential sync and dropped-frames problems, I wouldn't recommend this device for permanent archival of valued video tapes. But for making a VCD or DVD to send to some relatives far away, it's worth it.
