Author's Review
My wife bought this for me because she knows I may exceed the speed limit sometimes. Perhaps she thought she'd save us money on insurance if I got caught! Due to some family things, I had to drive from NC to OH and back 3 times within 2 months. The first trip was with some cheap detector which I had had for some time, but I also had a CB. The CB saved me and the detector didn't even show me an alert at a radar site that said "you're going xxMPH" at a site in WV. The next trip, with the RX65, it alerted me well in advance of many places they were running radar. The last trip (I was really moving due to my circumstances both ways and I had a little more trust in the RX65), it really saved my butt several times. I averaged over 70MPH going to OH from NC, figure that out! Then it started to have a problem and finally displayed "service required." I called Beltronics, and they were nice, but said I needed a receipt. Since it was a gift that my wife spent more on than I thought she'd want to tell me, I told them I had none. They told me I'd have to pay $60 to get it fixed. I was bummed, but sent it in with a letter explaining my issue. I just got it back (no charge) with a new cord, and window mount. The enclosed note said they fixed the anttena and sent a cord. I called them and asked if I did anything to damage the antenna and was told that if I didn't turn the unit off before I turned off the car engine, it would do bad things. Before I used to just leave it on and not unplug it. Now I know better. Plus now I have an extra smart cord and windshield mounts. I offered to send the extras back, but they said, "no, sorry you had a problem." If you want to speed, you need this. If you want great customer service, you need these folks. Thanks Beltronics. (Although they do need a email address to send this stuff to)
