Best Thing to Do When Not Biking

I have been reading BICYCLING for over a year now. Before my new baby came biking was an obsession. I'm sure many can relate with this. I wanted to read about biking when I was not doing so. I checked several magazines out, but none of them touched the biking attitude like BICYCLING.

Now that I have less time for riding, I savour the articles, advice and product review that I once devoured. Now I can see why this mag is so attractive to me.

Firstly the writing is in mostly short, one page articles. Not long and wordy like those found in other Bike magazines. This means that there are many more articles touching on all aspects of biking. These include tips on repairs, riding skills, training regiments, new products and bike culture. The more wordy articles (usually one per edition) are of great interest. For example the August 2000 article on Lance Armstrong "I Did Love Love The Bike Before I got Sick" was excellent.

Secondly the tips (found at the bottom of the page) throughout the magazine from BICYCLING readers are great. There is a sense of community and fun that is not found in other publications. This is echoed by my favorite section 'The Big Question' that gives responses to questions like What is the purest moment of a ride? or What makes cycling great?

Finally the setup of the magazine is such that you could pour over it in one sitting or read it in small segments. The magazine has so much you often need to go through it a couple times to pick up all the tips and reviews.

The next best thing to biking is reading about it and this magazine is the best out there.
