Bissell Steam Mop Really Works

I am not a massive fan of housework by any stretch of the imagination. Neither would I call myself a slob, but mopping is something which definitely always felt like a thankless task and an unpleasant one at that. All that slopping around in a bucket with a messy traditional mop or grafting on your hands and knees just wasn't my idea of fun so mopping was something which always got left until the last minute...or, basically, until the floor tipped my gross out meter overboard.

That was until I found the Bissell Steam cleaner! Oh man, this little beauty is quite possibly the best $80 I have spent on any domestic cleaning tool ever. This cleaner has changed the way I look at mopping from hating the thought of it, to almost enjoying it...I say almost because its still housework and who like that?!

Here's what I like:

The Bissell steam cleaner is lightweight and easily portable. It comes in one single unit, so not mop and bucket of dirty water sloshing up against your legs or bowl and cloth arrangement anymore. It is light enough to make mopping easy although you still have to use a little elbow grease to push it around your floors.

It uses no chemical cleaners AT ALL so you can maybe even save a little money on floor cleaning products and at the same time keep some of those nasty chemicals out of your home, sway from your family and out of the enviroment. It cleans using steam to lift the dirt from the floors, perhaps this isn't as effective as using those chemicals alongside a mop and bucket but it certainly looks as clean.

The Bissell uses material cleaning cloth attachments which fit over the steam head. These are washable so you can reuse them over and over. I do find they get dirty fast however, so you will probably want to pick up one of the replacement packages of these just so you can switch them out during cleaning if you have a lot of floor space to cover like I do.

The one thing I am not completely satisfied with on this cleaner is the length of the power cord. It would have been nicer to have been provided with a longer one as this cord is quite limiting in its length. Of course, it is nothing an extension cord can not fix but still, it seems a little short-sighted on behalf of Bissell to not provide a longer cord in the first place.

Otherwise, I am very satisfied with my Bissell steam cleaning mop. This is a great addition to my arsenal of household cleaning tools and has honestly made mopping fun again. A great purchase and after over 4 months of use, I have never had an issue with it.
