Author's Review
I checked one of these books out from the library and my daughter loved it. She actually cried when it was time to turn the book back in.
There are 8 books in the set, and topics in each book vary. Animals, history, weather, literary characters are just some of the topics covered. Each page has a picture to draw, with step-by-step instructions on how to draw it. Below the picture are 4 lines of text to copy, which are written in a Zaner-Bloser style of manuscript. Each page also has a thinking question for the child (with the answer in the back).
What I love about these books is that they are so adaptable to any home school curriculum. Because each book has three or four topics covered, it's easy to select the right book to fit into your lesson. You can "sneak" additional handwriting practice in without actually calling it handwriting practice!
My daughter (who's 5) received the 8 book set for Christmas and has spent probably 75% of her Christmas day drawing from these books. They are simple for the child to use, relatively inexpensive, and are fun!
I highly recommend these books for any K-4th grader.
