The Genius of Anne McCaffrey

There is no doubt- Anne McCaffrey is one of the most talented writers of the century. Her book Freedoms Landing expertly combines science fiction, adventure, humor, love and the truimph of the human spirit. Her plot is a masterpiece. Beginning two books earlier in Freedoms Challenge, Freedom's Landing is the saga of humans who are kidnapped by aliens and dumped with other aliens on an unknown planet. With the help of one of the aliens who kidnapped them, they manage to prosper and take to the skies to defeat the aliens who were their captors. McCaffrey had enough detail to make each scene realistic, yet not overburden the reader with technicalities. The colonists have a whole planet to explore, so the reader gets plenty of adventure. The blossoming love between the heroine Kris and the enemy alien satisfies the hopeless romantic. And the overcoming of bias heartens everyone. All in all, this a great book.
