Product Review

The Fountainhead, fuel for deep thought

by   kevinasadi ,   Mar 10, 2003

Pros:  Highly intellectual beneath an excellent story. Full of characters you care about.

Cons:  Not for those intimidated by long books.

The Bottom Line:  A masterpiece that should be read by everyone. A very interesting commentary on capitalism and life.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

The reader is taken on quite a journey in The Fountainhead. The story of Howard Roark, Peter Keating, Domonique Francon and company compels the reader to identify themselves with certain characters and provokes deep introspection. All the while, objectivism, an interesting philosophy is advanced by Ayn Rand as the story unfolds.

I picked up the book and I couldn't put it down, even though I am not a big reader. A friend read it and recommended it to me and I am very glad he did because it provoked so much thought. The book is makes excellent conversation material with others who have read it, as the story is quite entertaining and unpredictable, and the deeper meaning of the book is profound. Should be taught in schools, but it isn't so it is up to you as an individual to pick up The Fountainhead and experience it first-hand.
